Founded by Zak Biddu in 2005 UKNY Music has managed, produced, developed and consulted for an array of major label artists.
Zak Biddu previously managed and consulted for artists and producers at Big Life Management. During his three years at Big Life Management he consulted on albums by Snow Patrol, Howie Day, Embrace, Sophie Elis-Bextor, U2, Bond, Kasabian, Keith Flint, David Gray, Youth, Sir Paul McCartney and managed the
magical rise of the Grammy winning producer Jacknife Lee.
UKNY Music’s first two clients were Sir Paul McCartney and Lady Sovereign, a diverse pair! UKNY Music consulted for Sir Paul McCartney’s global touring exploits through 2005/2006 and the release of the Twin Freaks album, a collaboration record between Sir Paul and The Freelance Hellraiser. While Lady Sovereign secured a major label deal with Island Records in the UK, before Zak showcased Sovereign to Jay-Z and LA Reid to gain her a US recording deal with Def Jam Records.
In the process UKNY Music made history by managing the first British signing to the legendary American label. The fairy tale existence of Lady Sovereign includes recording her debut album with Missy Elliot, Pharrel
Williams, Dr Luke and The Beastie Boys, before she embarked on two years of sold-out touring and a million selling debut single.
In 2007, UKNY Music signed Ladyhawke for management and A&R, an unknown artist at the time. UKNY Music negotiated and managed her multi-territory album release through Universal Music and Modular Records for her debut self-titled album which was released in late-2008 and has since sold over half a million copies and won numerous awards.
Current new star artist on the rosteris the singer-songwriter David Best, whose debut album will be released in 2010 and is looked after by UKNY Music for management, production and general A&R.
